There’s something I want to admit.
Growing up, I didn’t identify as a confident person.
Actually… I’d call myself incredibly shy and very introverted.
In class, I never raised my hand. Not because I didn’t know the answer, or didin’t have a question but because I was too afraid to be seen. I remember sitting there, hoping the teacher wouldn’t call on me, hoping my face wouldn’t turn red, hoping I could just blend into the background.
As the years went on, that quiet fear followed me into adulthood. And I started to believe that my lack of confidence meant I was meant to be more of an observer of life… not a participant in it.
And that’s a painful way to live.
Becoming a photographer was the very first step in building my confidence.
It was like the camera gave me permission to become someone else — an alter ego of sorts.
Suddenly, I could walk up to people. Talk to them. Direct them. Hold space for them.
The camera gave me a reason to be bold… even when I didn’t feel bold inside.
And over time, as I watched people through my lens, something interesting happened.
I started to notice confident people.
How they stood. How they spoke. How they held their bodies.
How differently the world responded to them.
And I realized something that changed everything for me:
Confidence isn’t something you’re born with.
It’s a skill you learn.
It’s built every time you do something uncomfortable.
Every time you try again.
Every time you keep a promise to yourself.
That realization is the heartbeat behind everything I do now — and it’s the reason this workbook exists.
Again and again, I watched women step in front of my camera and apologize for their bodies. For their faces. For their age.
Women who have raised children. Built careers. Survived heartache. Built homes. Led families. Started over. Braved change.
And yet, the moment the camera comes out, they say things like:
And it breaks my heart every time — because I don’t see what they see.
I see strength. Wisdom. Softness. Story. Life. Beauty.
But I also know… no photographer can give you confidence.
We can only reveal what’s already there.
You have to believe it yourself first.
That’s why I created the Confidence Reset Workbook for Women 40+.
Not as a “fix yourself” guide.
Not as a “look younger” manual.
And definitely not as some fake, toxic-positivity nonsense.
I created it as a gentle companion for the woman who is tired of disappearing from her own life and her own photos.
✔ Avoids cameras
✔ Hides in group pictures
✔ Deletes most photos of herself
✔ Feels awkward or self-conscious in her body
✔ Has spent years being kinder to others than to herself
✔ Is ready to feel like herself again
And as a mom, I want to say something too…
Your children don’t see your flaws.
They see you.
The woman who loves them. Supports them. Shows up for them.
One day, photos will be all they have left of your presence.
You deserve to be in them — fully, confidently, beautifully.
This printable PDF includes over 20 thoughtful, supportive pages designed specifically for women over 40:
Nothing overwhelming.
Nothing perfection-based.
Just soft, real steps forward.
It’s about seeing yourself differently.
It’s about being 47 (like me), or 53, or 61, and saying:
I’m allowed to be seen.
I‘m allowed to take up space.
I‘m allowed to like photos of myself.”
And maybe for the first time in a long time… actually believing it.

Just you. A pen. A quiet moment.
And a new promise to yourself.
Once you start shifting how you see yourself, something powerful happens…
Women stand taller.
Smile easier.
Speak kinder to themselves.
And when that happens — the camera becomes a mirror of truth instead of fear.
And if, one day, you’re ready to step in front of my lens, I will be there — not to change you…
… but to show you who you’ve been all along.
With love,
Carla
